Fifteen minutes after putting the kids to bed Easton came out with a very concerned look on his face. He was on the verge of crying and told me he swallowed a bottle cap. Peyton has a ton of little bottle cap necklaces with magnets on the back. I was in the other room and asked Hunter to grab a bottle cap to take for the doctor to see. Easton then said that it was the magnet that he swallowed. When Hunter told me this it immediately clicked that it wasn't a magnet but a battery. We had them out earlier that day for a toy. When I asked Easton where the rest of them where he said, "I don't know." Well, we quickly discovered where one of them was!
We went to the brand new smaller hospital right by our house. They took x-rays and discovered that the battery had actually made it into his intestines or possibly his colon. There was about a two hour time lapse between the incident and the x-rays. If the battery was lodged in his esophagus we were advised to go to Children's Hospital in downtown Dallas. If it was in his stomach we were to go to the north branch of Children's which is only about 15 minutes away. Since it was so far down we went to the closer hospital. Once he was seen by the doctor there it was determined that the battery would just pass on its own. He was almost confused as to why we were even there. We told him that the first doctor advised us to go as a precautionary measure.
After three and a half hours, two ERs and hundreds of dollars Easton is fine. He never acted like he was in pain or uncomfortable in any way. We can safely make jokes at this point and his new name is "Battery Boy."
First ER (Methodist Hospital of Mckinney)
2nd ER (Children's Hospital - Legacy) He looks oh so distressed!
